Annunzia Fumagalli, painter, starts painting in 1991. Since then she took part in lots of exhibitions, nearly all one-man shows, in Italy and abroad for three months in the castle of Levice –Tekovské Muzeum (Slovakia). From 2003 to 2005, in partnership with the Batik Art of Barcelona, she exhibited in addition to this gallery, twice at the Book Fair of Frankfurt,
at the Art Fair of Seville, at the Museum of the Americas in Miami
(Florida – USA). In 2005 she attended the Prize 2005 Exhibition “world fine art gallery” in New York and in 2006 in Hong Kong, through the Spazio Arte gallery of Cremona. Her works have been acquired by the following museums: the Levice Tekovské Muzeum (Slovakia), the Museum of the Americas of Miami (Florida – USA), the Museum and picture gallery of Ripatransone (Ascoli Piceno – Italy). As well as by many private collections, including the most important art collections of the 20th-century painting in Italy.
In 1992 she founded the cultural association called the Ark of the mads, by which she took part in the organization of lots of art exhibitions, musical and poetic events, as the Opera Festival of Ripatransone (R.O.L.F.) Ripatransone Leonis Opera Festival. The President of the association is the poet Danilo Tomassetti and the artistic Director is Mà Vince Tempera, one of the most famous musician. The members, poets, painters, directors and opera singers, are lots.
The works of Annunzia Fumagalli have been published on magazines, yearbooks and books.

The white cloth
The white cloth is the space of my excitements. I’m painting driven by a hard passion, and I don’t have any fear. On the contrary I consider it an unique opportunity to express what I’m feeling. I think that those who claim to be paralyzed in front of it are not artists, but people who got a task they can’t do. It is as if an entrepreneur feared to open an enterprise. In every painting I tell my feelings, growing up by hard passions. I do it mainly for myself, for the need to communicate and tell to the others my inner world.

Vanishes the memory of when I started to touch and transform the coal dust into fascinating, supple, tempting women. Women aware of their life and strength. Women at the same time melancholic, confined in woods, flightless, such as we imagine dancers.
Once the drawing is planned, only my inner passion decides, an energy which I couldn’t define. At that moment I feel myself alive over the life, without either time or body, where all is huge and endless.
My women are lonely, but their wish is a cry to be there, to breathe along with the other.

Events

In 1992 she was among the founders and also manager of the cultural association called the Ark of the mads, by which she took part in the organization of lots of art exhibitions, musical and poetic events, as the Opera Festival of Ripatransone (R.O.L.F.) Ripatransone Leonis Opera Festival. The President of the association is the poet Danilo Tomassetti and the artistic Director is Mà Vince Tempera, one of the most famous musician. The members, poets, painters, directors and opera singers, are lots.
The art group “The Ark of the mads” grew following an initiative of Danilo Tomassetti and Annunzia Fumagalli, at the end of 1991. The first seat was the art hall Ciak 2° of the painter Rocco Spinelli. Also Nazzareno Tomassetti and the painter Antonella Spinelli were among the founders.
The name of the association was inspired by the book “The praise of the madness” by Erasmus from Rotterdam; and by the picture “The boat of the mads” by Bosch.
The artists of the Ark of the mads like giving a cultural content to their exhibitions, tempting the interest of those who are indifferent to the arts.
The mads organize their celebrations in the most heterogeneous places: from the bowling green in the country to the cloister, the church of the fourteenth century or the palace, changing them into a temple of the arts, using the materials as they were verses to re-create lost atmospheres.

Image and Poetry

The poetry has ever been the underlying theme of the mads, as from the poetry arises the theme of the exhibition. Through the writing of the verse, interlaced with the works of the painters, evoked through the reading and the performance the verse envelops and blends in the imaginary world of the user of the language of the eyes and of the speech.

Image and Opera

From the meeting with “The cellar of the art of Ripatransone”, the music enters the exhibitions of the mads. At the beginning with concerts for cymbal and violin, followed by the international opera. So starts the collaboration with the opera singers Ambra Vespasiani and Ettore Nova. And also with Gian Paolo Micio Proietti, formerly director of the Sferisterio in Macerata and proxy of Monserrat Caballé.

From art group to association

In 2001 the Ark of the mads turns into a cultural association. In some way the phase of the movement comes to an end and we turn into an institution. The starting group of artists is ever the core of the association, but the many cultural interlacements with “The cellar of the art of Ripatransone” and the meeting with professor Gian Paolo Micio Proietti, one of the most important man of the international opera-house, persuade the artists supporters of the movement, that their message will not lose its purity if the group will turn into an association.
